Terrae Motus Collection, set after the earthquake of 23 November 1980 that devastated Campania and Basilicata, was created on the initiative and foresight of Lucio Amelio,  gallery owner in Naples (Naples, 1931/1994), the personality of international repute and a friend of many contemporary artists.


Since 1994 the Collection, in implementation of testamentary dispositions of Amelio, that links the collection to the Royal Palace, winds in the eighteenth century Apartment’ s retrostanze, where it occupies an exhibition space of sixteen rooms.The current layout has been created on the occasion of thirtieth anniversary of 1980 earthquake. Nowadays thirty-six works are exposed, divided into "geographical" sections, bringing together works according to the nationality of authors. Miquel Barcelò, Tony Cragg, Gilbert and George,Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg, Julian Schnabel are some of the international artists exposed here. Finally, Italian artists, cannot miss, such as Carlo Alfano, Enzo Cucchi, Mario Merz, Mimmo Palladino, Michelangelo Pistoletto and Emilio Vedova, just to name a few.
